It’s no secret that Shadow of the Erdtree is tough as nails, so much so that FromSoftware has even patched it. Even so, if you’re making your way through the Realm of Shadow, there are a number of things you can do to lighten the load. First, check out our Five tips for beginners to make life easier in Shadow of the Erdtreeguide, to make your life a bit easier.
One of the points in that guide is to bear in mind the intended order for you to make your way through the DLC’s main bosses. This really means that you are keeping an appropriate level of challenge in mind, when you’re fighting the main bosses. Here is the order that you are intended to do them in. There are only five main bosses, rather than the twelve that were in the main game.
You encounter this charming chap in Belurat, Tower Settlement, and he may serve as a bit of a rude awakening for people first starting Shadow of the Erdtree, with his wild leaps and juddering movements. Check out our guide on How to defeat Divine Beast Dancing Lion for more.
Rellana, Twin Moon Knight
Rellana is the boss of Castle Ensis, and she is a pretty tough one. Castle Ensis isn’t too difficult to get to; it’s to the east of Belurat, Tower Settlement, and you will naturally be steered there on the main path leading away from the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace.
Messmer The Impaler
Messmer is the final boss of the Shadow Keep, which is the sort of the main big dungeon in Shadow of the Erdtree. His is a tough showdown, which makes sense, given that he is sort of the featured boss of the DLC.
You will face off against Promised Consort Radahn toward the end of Shadow of the Erdtree. You run into him at the top of the Enir-Ilim Legacy Dungeon – after you have beaten Romina and Messmer. Getting there is a little fiddly, as you have to take Messmer's Kindling to the Church of the Bud and burn it; then you will transported to this climactic boss.
