Introduction:
Welcome to Portal 2, the highly anticipated sequel to 2007's Game of the Year, developed by VALVE. With more environment interaction, and a brand new Co-op system, Portal 2 will keep you on your toes from start to finish, and even after that. Valve has kept it's promise and made the game more challenging, more fun, and even more hilarious. Now sit down and get ready to feel that sense of accomplishment again, and expect to be laughing the whole way through.
Breakdown:
This game is split up into two sections: Single Player and Co-Op. There are no collectible achievements, only level specific achievements, story related achievements and a few misc achievements. You will only need 1 playthrough for each Single Player and Co-Op, with a few Course/Chamber replays for Co-Op.
Step 1: Playthrough on Single Player
There is no difficulty for Portal 2 so you don't have to worry about that. There are a total of 29 achievements for Single Player worth 475. Out of the 29 achievements, there are 14 story related achievements worth 185
and 15 missable achievements worth 290
. If you don't want to miss any achievements in Single Player then click here for a list of all missable achievements in obtainable order with a video and written explanation for each achievement.
- Pturretdactyl
- Final Transmission
- Drop Box
- Preservation of Mass
- Overclocker
- Good Listener
- No Hard Feelings
- Scanned Alone
- Door Prize
- Schrodinger's Catch
- Ship Overboard
- Portrait of a Lady
- You Made Your Point
- Smash TV
- Pit Boss
You can use the guide below but the achievements are not ordered in obtainable order, so that will make it harder to keep track of when you are going for a certain achievement in a specific level. There are no achievements in Single Player that are carried throughout the campaign so if you do miss any achievements you can use Chapter Select. To use Chapter Select you must choose New Game.
Step 2: Playthrough on Co-Op:
You will most likely want to find a friend who is good for playing through Co-op instead of searching for a stranger. There is a total of 21 achievements in Co-op worth 525. Out of the 21 achievements, there are 6 Co-Op story related achievements worth 155
and 15 missable achievements worth 370
. All but two Co-Op achievements can be earned offline via Split-screen. The 2 achievements that have to be online are "Friends With Benefits" and "Professor Portal". If you don't want to miss any achievements in Co-Op then click here for a list of all missable achievements in obtainable order with a video and written explanation for each achievement.
- Narbacular Drop
- Asking for Trouble
- Rock Portal Scissors
- Triple Crown
- Iron Grip
- Empty Gesture
- Portal Conservation Society
- Four Ring Circus
- Can't Touch This
- Friends List With Benefit
- Air Show
- Still Alive
- Party of Three
- Gesticul
- Professor Portal
There is one achievement in Co-Op that is carried throughout the Co-Op Campaign. The achievement is Asking for Trouble. You have to taunt GLaDOS in front of a camera once in each course (not chamber) so make sure you don't miss that. If you do miss it you can replay any chamber in that course that has a camera and taunt it. If you miss any missable achievements you can go back to the Hub and go to the required course. When you enter the door of the Course there is a wall that disappears and shows you the Chamber that you will start on. Use the arrow keys to choose the chamber you want to start on. If you need to find someone to play Co-op with use this thread . "Professor Portal" cannot be obtained until you complete every course in Co-op Campaign, meaning you have to have unlocked "You Saved Science" first.
"Professor Portal" requires you to complete Co-Op Campaign and then play the Calibration Course (which can be selected by pressing start in the Hub and choosing Calibration Course) with a friend online who has never played Co-Op before. You may have to make another gold account for this or find someone who has never played Co-Op before.
Clean Up (Single Player and Co-op):
Once you have finished Single Player and Co-op it is time to rack up any achievements that you may have missed. If you have missed any achievements for Single Player you can use Chapter Select via New Game from the main menu. If you missed any achievements for Co-Op you can go to the Hub and choose any Course and Chamber you want by using the arrow keys.
Conclusion:
After hours and hours of challenges and laughs you should have 1000 now! This game is not too hard to 1000 if you know what you are doing and have a friend who is good at the game. If you follow the Roadmap and Achievement Guide you should have no problem getting 1000
. Portal 2 is a very fun and hilarious game that is worth playing and worth every achievement point!
