Introduction:
Indulge in a delicious adventure as you choose to battle or befriend your enemies to save the day your way! Personalize your cupcake hero and meet charming friends along the way. Leave the world better off than you found it in this turn-based RPG.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
This is a really cute and relaxing RPG where you play as cupcakes and attempt to make the world a better place. Rainbows and sunshine all around. As this is aimed at the "cozy" crowd, the difficulty is extremely low and there is even a function of battles (with associated achievement) to "befriend" enemies instead of hurting and killing them. However, there is the opposite achievement to kill them still, so balance that until you've done 50 of each. Take note of the list of jellyroll cat locations so you can pet all of them for that achievement as you go through the game. Otherwise, the list is fairly simple and mostly just consists of completing the story. See the guide below for any miscellaneous achievements you may need to mop up before defeating the final boss. Make sure you take note of the Gummy Wyrm boss and defeat it, as losing this fight can still progress the game, but you need to kill it for the associated achievement!

Note on Leveling:
This game has scripted level ups after each of the bosses. You do not earn XP for defeating or befriending regular monsters, so after you get Social Butterfly (100G) and Tough Cookie (100G) battle cease to have a purpose. Just run past all the enemies, progress the story, and kill the bosses. I would highly suggest ALWAYS taking the "battle" option for your skills, and once you learn all of them, that turns into +10 HP per level up which will help keep you alive. For the first 3-4 levels grab the stat that corresponds to your character (main MC = Might, Red Velvet = Moxie, Midnight = Magic) and then give everyone Moxie so they act more quickly in battle. With this setup, you should have no issues against the bosses and will likely not even need to heal much.

Conclusion:
If you need a break from all the Soulslikes or really long JRPGs on your roster, Battlecakes is the game for you. Very low stakes and very adorable, this is a nice chill game to bridge the gap between some more rewarding completions.

There are 16 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Pet your first jellyroll cat

See Gotta Pet 'Em All (50G) for more info.
  • Pet 8 different jellyroll cats

There are actually a total of 10 jellyroll cats that you can pet in the game by holding button-a.png next to them, but only 8 are required for the achievement. None are missable, but grab them as you go so you don't need to backtrack at all, since there is no fast travel available in the game. The full list of locations is as follows:

    1. Vanilla Hill - talk to Millie and help the cat out of the tree
    2. Butterworth Heights - roaming the northern side of town
    3. Verdant Forest - you'll have to get past the "dead end" here by getting a fish from the lake and giving it to the cat (this is the same cat as on the next screen near the witches as well, so you can pet it in either location)
    4. Marzipan - take the stairs up immediately to the left when entering the city
    5. Marzipan, A Mossy Path - use the tunnel above the temple entrance to find a cat on the farthest right path
    6. West Garnish - just outside of town
    7. West Garnish - in the middle of town near the gazebo
    8. West Garnish - at the north of town near the witches (might be the same cat as in the forest, but this is where my achievement unlocked so it appears to count separately)
    9. Nougat Hollow - on the highway into town
    10. Nougat Hollow - on the east side of town
    11. Nougat Hollow - inside the hotel outside room 2B
  • Equip your first Topper

Story related and can not be missed.
  • Create your first crafted recipe item

After leaving Vanilla Hill on your way to Butterworth Heights you'll run into a farm (if you talked to Swirlene at the shop in Vanilla Heights you'll have a package to deliver to the farmer here for a side-quest), and once you speak to the farmer she'll instruct you and help you begin crafting. Just choose any two ingredients you have in your inventory and combine them to unlock this achievement.
  • Make 10 purchases from item shops

This one is pretty obvious. I am not sure if Bean Counter (50G) is cumulative or not, but you really shouldn't need to purchase a lot of stuff with how easy this game is, so feel free to avoid buying anything until you unlock that, then grab 10 cheap items to get this achievement once you're back in a town.
  • Collect 1000 Jelly beans

This will come naturally as you play, I unlocked it after defeating the vampire boss in the Manor.
  • Customize your appearance at Mousse

Once you reach Butterworth Heights you'll find a shop called Mousse where you can customize your appearance. Simple make and save any change to unlock the achievement, free of charge.
  • Befriend 50 critters

In battle, you have two ways to "defeat" an enemy, for this option, you'll want to use your "befriend" command to increase the green gauge until it meets the red gauge. If the green gauge is more than 75% when that occurs, you will befriend the enemy and they will be removed from battle. I would use this option for the first sections of the game, then switch to normal attacks for the rest of the game.
  • Battle 50 critters

In battle, you have two ways to "defeat" an enemy, for this option, you'll want to use your "batte" command to do damage and reduce their hit points in the normal fashion, which will increase the red gauge from the right side. Once that meets the green portion, so long as red is more than 75% the enemy will be defeated by battle and removed from the fight.
  • Defeat the Honeybun Queen

Story related and can not be missed.
  • Defeat Count DeLeche

Story related and can not be missed.
  • Defeat the Gummy Wyrm

    *MISSABLE*

This is a main story boss, but it is unique in that the story progresses whether you win the battle or not. Make sure you save prior to the fight, and reload your save if you lose.
  • Defeat the Butterscreams

Story related and can not be missed.
  • Defeat the Mining Golem

Story related and can not be missed.
  • Defeat DelChurro

Story related and can not be missed.
  • Defeat Lord Fondant

Story related and can not be missed.
