Fate of a hero (15G) does not track fully properly at launchIntroduction:Rewrite the myth of Achilles – the mighty Greek warrior and the commander of brave Myrmidons. After the War of Troy, you return to Greece and find your homeland plunged into chaos. The story takes you through the diverse locations of ancient Mycenae. You will learn how to cope with your new nature and become the one who can save the mortal world from impending doom. Achilles: Legends Untold offers a brand-new experience to the ARPG genre. Jump straight into the action in a dynamic, combat-focused gameplay where every fight provides a unique challenge. Watch your opponents and memorize their moves to defeat them. Customize your play style by combining skills and weapons of choice. Decimate your foes with a two-handed sword, call upon gods’ powers to cause havoc in their ranks, or shower them with petards before taking a direct approach.
Step 1: 100% Hero Difficulty + Kill All BossesStart on Hero difficulty because the game really isn't very difficult at all, and you can't change the difficulty going into NG+ anyway. There are a few points where you may get swarmed by enemies, but just keep rolling away, kicking them over, and throwing your shield to get in damage until you can kill one or two and make things more manageable. Other than that, you'll just need to take your time in combat. Despite being isometric and feeling more like a Diablo dungeon crawler, this is meant to be more akin to a Souls type of game with careful combat - though really it's a decent blend between the two.
As you develop your character, I would suggest grabbing the skills from the Lion constellation first which replensih health and fury with each kill, allowing you to be more effective in combat and avoid resting and respawning enemies. Then grab the experience boosting skills from the dog constellation, the shield skills from the eagle constellation, and finally the counter attack skills from the centaur constellation so you can work on that achievement. Most weapons will scale their damage based on a few stats, so once you get an orange-rarity weapon you like, really focus on increasing any stat with an A rating on your equipped weapon to get the most out of it.
So, on to actually playing through the game! I would suggest mostly following the main story pretty closely. It will take you to every area in the game, and keep your level in line with where you should in each area. However, I would wander slightly off the beaten path in every direction just a bit to explore any "?" icons on the map. Basically every single one of those will be something you need to do for an achievement. You will find all the shrines, rune chests, cellars, ruins, Laestrygones, altars, and cages at these locations. Also be sure to check all the houses and camps to check for any notes laying around, and lastly work through all of the very hidden and annoying cursed mask locations. When you defeat bosses, choose to kill them for this playthrough to get the Human ending. Killing bosses usually gives you a good weapon or shield, so it's the better choice on the first run.
Once you reach the end of the story, before entering the portal to the final boss, be sure to stop and backtrack to any previous locations and clean up the achievement list to ensure you don't need to spend time on anything in your second playthrough. Get all collectibles and complete all combat-related achievements, leaving only the ending-based achievements for sparing the bosses - the opposite choices we made in this playthrough.
Step 2: NG+ and Spare All BossesFor this playthrough, be sure to spare the bosses so we can get the Hero ending, but otherwise you shouldn't need to do much if you properly did all the collectibles in the first playthrough. If you somehow missed
Stay safe (30G) your first go around, grab that during the cultist ambush section about halfway through the game.
Step 3: Warrior Difficulty - Kill ParisIt is highly likely you did not kill Paris on your first play through the prologue on Hero difficulty. If you did, congrats! You probably already have the 1000

. If not, start a new game on Warrior difficulty and do that now.
Conclusion:This game was quite good! It's not super long or difficult, but the gameplay design was solid and I enjoyed going through it. There is a lot to do as far as collectibles, but all of them reward good weapons or extra skills points to make your character more powerful, so it's quite worth doing all of them anyway. While the game launched with a lot of achievement issues, I have been assured they will be fixed quickly and I will update this assesment accordingly.
