Arc System Works has officially announced Double Dragon Revive, its upcoming 3D revival of the iconic scrolling beat ‘em up, which first hit arcades back in 1987. AEW developer Yuke’s will be contributing to the game, alongside Arc System Works, combining their fighting game know-how.
According to the announcement, Double Dragon Revive will retain “the core belt-scroll action gameplay”, of the original games, albeit with “controls and balance refined for the modern era”. Each stage will have weapons to pick up, as well as ‘area gimmicks’, all of which Arc promises will be intuitive for new players.
As for playable characters, series stalwarts Billy and Jimmy Lee will obviously be front and centre, joined by Roper and Abobo, who are seemingly antagonists. You can expect to see more moves, stages, and playable characters in future announcements, ahead of the game's launch next year.
Double Dragon Revive will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2025.
